Aston Villa ‘refuse’ to make bid for £43m midfield gem as West Ham and Everton storm into pole position
Aston Villa have an important few weeks ahead of them on the transfer front.
Under Unai Emery’s leadership, Aston Villa are gearing up for another Premier League season. They hired the Spaniard as their manager in 2022, and he has since made a good impression. He previously played for PSG, Arsenal, and Villarreal, among other clubs.

Last season, the Midlands club failed to qualify for the Champions League. They have the opportunity to sign new players this summer. If necessary, they can also allow certain people to go through the exit door.
Aston Villa latest regarding Douglas Luiz.
According to The Sun, Aston Villa’refuse’ to pursue a re-signing of Douglas Luiz from Juventus. According to the report, the Brazil international is valued at £43 million. Everton and West Ham are reportedly interested in signing him.
Luiz, 27, began his career with Vasco de Gama and broke into the first team as a youngster. When Manchester City approached the Brazil international in 2017, he was tempted from South America to Europe. However, he did not appear in a single first-team game while at the Etihad Stadium.
Instead, City farmed him out to Girona twice to gain experience in La Liga. Following their promotion from the Championship, Aston Villa signed him on a permanent basis in 2019, and he established himself as a crucial player for the Midlands club. He made 204 appearances in all competitions and scored 22 goals, 10 of which came in his last season before joining Juventus.
Will ex-Aston Villa man Douglas Luiz leave Juventus?
Luiz has struggled to make an impact since joining Juventus. He has made 27 appearances for the Italian powerhouse but has not scored. As a result, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him go out the exit door. A change of scenery would be beneficial for the man born in Rio. He would add depth to Aston Villa’s squad and is a player they are familiar with. However, they do not appear to be interested in a reunion, which, according to the source, may open the door for other teams such as Everton and West Ham.
According to Tuttosport, after joining Juventus, he stated, “Why did I leave the Premier League?” Any player in the world would have liked to have an experience at Juventus, and I am no exception. It is more dependent on the club’s size than on the championship. It’s good to be able to tell my family when I retire that I played for Juventus.
“I had a very positive impression; Juventus is a huge club with a long history of great players. This encouraged me to come here. Any athlete would have desired this opportunity. When I heard about Juve’s proposal, I immediately expressed my interest to the agents, and we worked together to ensure a successful outcome.
“I come from a championship that is probably considered the most difficult, and I am very pleased with my experience. In Serie A, I want to accomplish even more; I know what kind of player I am and what my qualities are; I have prepared myself for this time and feel ready.”
