The Watford skyline is changing dramatically as new tower blocks are developed, such as this one in the middle of town.

The Watford Observer is thrilled to offer images from Watford Museum’s archive, and this week we revisit this vista of Beechen Grove.

Christine Orchard, the museum’s volunteer archivist, stated, “This short stretch of road connects the Town Hall roundabout to the ring road and was built in the 1970s.””For decades, the view had changed little.

rees have grown, and the crossing between the two sections of Albert Road now has pedestrian lights, but the skyline remains open and unobstructed.

“Today, however, a tall new block has been built at the corner of Clarendon Road, replacing a lower office block and the skyline has change dramatically.”
