Bolton Wanderers and Huddersfield Town “may enter the picture” in light of interest in the Barnsley star.

With proposals from Wycombe Wanderers, the 24-year-old has been the focus of intense speculation in recent weeks.

Despite his lackluster 2024–25 season, he is an undeniably talented operator who has excelled in League One in the past.
Although he has been pursued by the Chairboys, it seems that other third-tier teams might also be interested.

Luca Connell, the captain of Barnsley, looked

Luca Connell serves as Barnsley's captain - but has been at the centre of transfer speculation.

Charlie Gordon of the Daily Express claims that Bolton and Huddersfield may both make bids for the midfield player.

Additionally, he asserts that Wycombe has submitted a fourth attempt to sign the former Celtic prospect.

Wycombe has submitted a fourth bid for Luca Connell,” he wrote on X. Chairboys are still waiting for a formal response from Barnsley, as the entire valuation has not been met, and other clubs (Bolton/Huddersfield) may enter the picture. The offer is still being considered, though.

Luca Connell’s prospects

Even if Connell didn’t perform well during the Reds’ difficult 2024–2025 campaign, it doesn’t seem appealing to lose him.

He has already shown promise, and it could be beneficial to train under former midfielder Conor Hourihane.

Connell could be tempted to start over someplace else, though, after three years in South Yorkshire.

Luca Connell joined Barnsley back in 2022.

After failing to make the cut in Scotland with Celtic, the midfielder was recruited by Barnsley in 2022.

After making a senior breakthrough at Bolton, he joins the Bhoys in 2019. Given that the Trotters were having financial difficulties when he left, Connell might be forgiven for thinking he had unresolved business with them.

However, there is a lot of ambition displayed by Huddersfield in an effort to turn things around. Despite being predicted for promotion, Huddersfield, like Barnsley, finished in the middle of the table.

Marc Leonard of Birmingham City has been linked to the Terriers, who seem interested in acquiring a new midfield player.
