Can record Hibs signing steer home side to Easter Road win over leaders Hearts? Gray on £1.5 million Klidje.

Togo international striker pushed out of starting lineup due to injury and the form of Boyle-Bowie duo.

Hibs manager David Grey has urged club record acquisition Thibault Klidje to improve despite a “stop-start” start to his Easter Road career, with the £1.5 million striker scoring just three goals since his summer arrival.

And the manager has stated that getting behind the wheel has helped the “quiet” Togolese international settle in Edinburgh.

Klidje has struggled with a number of minor ailments since Hibs paid their highest ever transfer fee to get the 24-year-old from Swiss club Luzern during the summer window.

He hasn’t started since playing for just under an hour in a 2-2 away draw with Livingston at the start of November, and he hasn’t scored since hitting the net in back-to-back games the previous month.

When he came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at Tannadice last weekend, the former Bordeaux prospect caused Dundee United custodian Dave Richards to make a good save.

And is expected to play at some point as Hibs try to take league leaders Hearts down a notch or two at Easter Road tomorrow.

Hibs boss has faith in striker’s ability

Grey is convinced that the front man is regaining his touch after his first full week of training in a month leading up to the United game, stating:

“A small injury happened at a time for him when he perhaps just got a wee bit of a run in the team.

I thought he was more like himself when he came on against Dundee United, as he was still feeling it a little. But I believe he profited greatly from a full week’s training.

And I believe he gets his fair share of opportunities in the game, but you can see what he’s capable of in terms of running in behind and being sharp at times.

“I know there’s a lot more to come.”And he simply needs to try to raise his level of performance and consistency, and he will benefit, as I previously stated, by a full week of training, because he has been a bit of a stop-start.

But, like everyone else, he has the opportunity to try it.To be honest, he’s a quiet young man, which is natural and understandable.

Another factor is that you sign new players, who come from various cultures, have different working styles, and are in a completely different environment.
