Graham Alexander on Bradford City laying foundations

Graham Alexander on Bradford City laying foundations.

GRAHAM Alexander believes City’s confidence-boosting start to League One has created the groundwork for the season, but nothing more.

The Bantams are off to a fast start, with 23 points from 10 games, seven of which they won.

They travel to Rotherham tomorrow still top, as Cardiff suddenly tripped up last night in their game in hand, losing 1-0 at home to Gary Bowyer’s Burton, who were at the foot of the table.

City has had a fantastic first few months following promotion, but Alexander highlighted that the campaign is still in its early stages.

“It’s a foundation,” he explained. “We’ve played ten games and are not even a quarter of the way through. “However, having so many points gives us confidence that the team has gelled swiftly. “We are not overwhelmed with League One players from season to season.

We have several. “We have guys that are establishing themselves, either because they are playing at a new level or because of their age.

There are young players like Josh Neufville and Bobby Pointon, for example. “But they believe in themselves and one another. That is the most significant factor.

“That’s why I stress how important it is for us to get our own house in order, our own game, because it doesn’t matter otherwise.

“We need results to support our messages and the work we perform, especially with half a new group. Everyone has to prove it.

“But we must never let the outcomes make us believe that we are better than we are. “I think we’re pretty good at putting things in context whether we win or lose.”

“It’s why I stress so much that we have to get our own house in order, our own game, because without that it doesn’t count for anything.
