Heartless and opportunistic robbers stole the proceeds from a popular annual Coventry music event benefiting the Myton Hospice.
COVtember is an award-winning annual event that raises funds for various organisations every year. It attracts the best in local music to an annual festival held in September at The Tin, Coventry Canal Basin.
This weekend’s event, which celebrates grassroots music while raising much-needed funding, is known to sell out every year. However, one visitor on Friday (19 September) clearly missed the event’s feel-good and humanitarian spirit, as he took advantage of the chance while the featured act was performing to make off with the proceeds.
The event organisers announced the news on social media. The post stated, “COVtember news…” So, tonight, during the Suns of Rest set, someone took the money from the door.
We believe it may be £150/£200. “The money isn’t crucial; I’ll probably sit in beans to make it up, but that’s really disappointing. We had a terrific crew at the door tonight, and I told them how much I appreciated their time and assistance. Please come down tomorrow if possible.
The folks that have done this are aware of the festival, what we do, and the effort required. We shall not be discouraged by this behaviour. We won’t be wounded. We will do what we want this weekend.”
The event resumes at 2 p.m. today and will continue tomorrow. Today’s program includes Arthur and the Invincibles, Futumche, Caroline Bomb, Soop, The Genes, Bleach Fields, What About Eric, Yes Princess, Loophole, and The Session.
Sunday’s program includes Standard Sound Project, The Loaded, Thee Acid Tongue, Wave of Sheep, Otto and the Dark, Daniel Barrie and the Drop D’s, Chrissie Dux, Pandora, Dane-o, and Harry Francis.
