Hearts contract update on Cammy Devlin, Beni Baningime, Craig Gordon, Frankie Kent and others.
SPFL Premiership leaders are conducting transfer business early in 2026. Hearts recently agreed to contract extensions with key players such as Harry Milne and Craig Halkett, but several others are nearing the end of their contracts.
The Edinburgh News investigated each of the men in question to discover their present state of play and whether they will remain at Tynecastle Park beyond the conclusion of the season.
Cammy Devlin and Beni Baningime, defenders Frankie Kent and Lewis Neilson, goalkeepers Craig Gordon and Harry Stone, and winger Alan Forrest will all be out of contract within the next several months.
Hearts will offer new deals to select individuals, inviting them to join Milne and Halkett in pledging their futures.
Others will be permitted to move on. As is typically the case while contract negotiations are underway, the situation is fluid. Hearts’ recruitment partner, Jamestown Analytics, approves all incoming and leaving transfers.
The London-based firm also provides information and statistics that influence decisions about who should be granted new deals.
Cammy Devlin Hearts want the popular Australian to stay and have expressed their views on why he can play a significant role in the future. Devlin, 27, has been in Edinburgh since 2021 and has adapted into a league that matches his active style of midfield play.
He is ranked by Jamestown, and Tynecastle officials have proposed terms in the hopes of signing him to a new deal.
So far, he has not. Devlin hopes to reach Australia’s World Cup squad and should expect offers from other clubs in the coming months, especially if he plays and has an impact during the event.
He has not ruled out staying with Hearts and is currently weighing up his future.
BENI BANINGIME
The Congolese is one of Hearts’ most significant players, but no new contract negotiations have taken place as of yet. Like Devlin, he moved to Scotland in 2021, is 27 years old, and is a well-known character in Gorgie.
Many supporters want him to stay, but Jamestown’s statistical research has not judged Baningime deserving of a contract renewal at this time.
It seems expected that he will play out the balance of the season and see what offers come his way before deciding on his future.
He turns 43 today and is desperate to be part of Scotland’s World Cup squad.
Gordon, the Hearts’ second-choice custodian behind Alexander Schwolow, is still capable of making outstanding saves, as evidenced by his performance during Scotland’s World Cup qualification campaign.
As of now, no conversations have taken place with Hearts about a new deal.
He recovered admirably from a double leg break suffered in 2022 and is hesitant to stop while he can still compete at a high level, but he cannot continue indefinitely.
The Englishman has had preliminary negotiations with Hearts management about staying on for next season.
However, there has been no formal negotiation. He will have other possibilities abroad and in England that he may like to pursue.
Both Hearts and Kent are at ease with the scenario and are content to continue as is. If necessary, Kent’s future will be reconsidered later in the campaign.
ALAN FORREST
Another who has not yet been invited to contract talks. The winger has played sparingly this season and is not likely to return for the 2026/27 season.
He moved to Edinburgh from Livingston as a free agent in 2022, and his contract was extended in 2024. He appears to be wrapping up his Hearts career and moving on.
On loan at Falkirk and in the latter months of his Hearts contract. Neilson joined Hearts from Dundee United in 2022, but has struggled to establish himself in the first squad.
So far, there have been no conversations about extending his contract, and he will remain on loan at Falkirk until the end of the season. After that, he becomes a free agent.
HARRY STONE
The goalie has struggled to get any game time this season and is not involved in contract negotiations. If a suitable offer is received in January, he may move permanently or on loan.
