In the tantalizing Premier League matchup on Saturday, Aston Villa will travel to Merseyside to play Liverpool at Anfield.
After defeating Premier League powerhouse Manchester City at home in their most recent game, the Villans are bursting with confidence.
Villa extended their incredible home record against the Cityzens thanks to a stunning goal from Matty Cash in the 19th minute.
This weekend, they will be hoping to add Liverpool to their list of fatalities.
After a poor start to the season, Unai Emery has been able to turn things around, and Villa is currently having an incredible run of play.
In their last seven games across all competitions, the Lions have won six of them. It’s interesting to note that Saturday’s hosts have only won once in their last seven games across all competitions.
In their previous encounter, Villa held Liverpool to a 2-2 tie. Even with the Reds’ recent performance, Villa is still the underdog going into the match.
They may not have a better opportunity to snap their seven-match losing record against the defending champions, but they haven’t triumphed in a Premier League match at Anfield since September 2014.
Aston Villa’s possible lineup
Emery will have to adjust his attacking setup because of Emiliano Buendia’s injury, but he has no reason to change the lineup that defeated City the last time.
With Lucas Digne, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, and Cash—who scored the game-winning goal versus City—protecting him, Emiliano Martinez is anticipated to start in goal.
Villa’s defense has been whipped into a strong wall by Emery.
As of right now, only four Premier League teams—Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Man City, and Sunderland—have given up less goals than the Lions.
In the center of the pitch, Amadou Onana and Boubacar Kamara will probably continue their relationship, while Emery will expect more of the same from his rearguard.
Villa hero Buendia, who assisted Cash in winning the game, was knocked down against Man City and will have to watch from the sidelines at Anfield.
This makes it possible for Donyell Malen to attack alongside Morgan Rogers and John McGinn, with Ollie Watkins at the forefront.
anticipated XI;
(4-2-3-1): Martinez; Watkins; Malen, Rogers, McGinn; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Onana, Kamara
