Interesting BBC Sport comments from ‘neutrals’ on Newcastle United after 2-0 Spurs win

After Newcastle United defeated Spurs 2-0, it was interesting to read these BBC Sport comments.

The neutrals’ remarks are particularly telling.

Much of it differed from what supporters of Newcastle United had grown accustomed to from the “neutrals” of BBC Sport.

In the past, the neutral BBC Sport comments had mostly been a litany of insults directed at NUFC fans.

Specifically, the owners of Newcastle United and the media-driven slew of criticism that NUFC supporters have grown accustomed to when they are held accountable for the club’s current ownership.

This time, the politics are almost completely gone, with the focus being on the game and Newcastle United’s run to the Carabao Cup final eight.

Neutrals, a few Spurs supporters, and the occasional Newcastle (and Sunderland) supporter also contributed to the BBC Sport readers’ comments:

“I’m happy for Newcastle, and Liverpool’s abrupt demise with Isak on board is just karma.”

“Eddie Howe is an incredibly talented manager; nearly every player who joins Newcastle under him improves, despite their initial cost.”

“What a player! Woltemade has been the most successful striker transfer this season.”

“Stair-limbed Rudi Völler.”

The Toon army does not require a lazy Swede like him! (sincere admiration from an Irons supporter)

Liverpool doesn’t either. It doesn’t matter to them whether you lose with him or without him.

“West Ham is going to win 6-0 on Sunday; I don’t even like Newcastle.” Just so you know.

“Woltemade plays well.”

It’s encouraging to see Spurs’ luck from the weekend run-out as well.

I’m still shocked that they defeated us (Everton) 3 to 0.

“The referee was correct to allow the corner to be taken after waiting a long time because my two-year-old can fasten his boots faster than Spence.”

“Instead of postponing the game, the referee ought to have instructed Spence to leave the field.”

There is no regulation that requires the other players to wait until a player is ready to tie his laces.

Teams that are able to score from set pieces will finish ahead of those that are unable to do so.

Newcastle and other teams that can defend against set pieces will place even higher.

“There is no better midfielder in his position in the Premiership than Tonali; he has an engine.” “He is as smooth as a Rolls Royce.”

“Xhaka casts a shadow over Tonali.”

The jigsaw puzzle he was working on at home is the only thing casting a shadow over Xhaka tonight. I hope you have a better year next year.

“Tonali is the best player at Newcastle.” It was amazing to see Mind Dan Burn on the wing. Getting his crosses in

pathetic on the part of Spurs. Richarlison is terrible, and I don’t know why he plays!

He isn’t Premier League caliber, as we can all see. Why doesn’t Frank know what Everton knew?

Let in two goals and rest the greatest defender as well.

Are we focusing on the league and the Champion’s League?

Perhaps Frank does. However, he doesn’t really have many options when Solanke spends more time off the field than on it and Tel has a player that is just not good enough.

“Murphy is far superior to Elanga.”

“Elanga terrorized the Spuds defense and had a great game. He’s also getting used to teamplay.”

Elanga truly has more than what he has showed you thus far, forest fan. He’s more talented than you realize.

As a Spurs supporter, I have no concerns; well done, Newcastle. I knew it would be a difficult night as soon as I saw neither Romero nor VDV. We proceed as it is not clinical enough in front of the goal.

Yes, we didn’t deserve anything. We know how to flatter in order to deceive, but when I realized that they had made more adjustments than we had, I believed that anything less than a draw was illegal. Totally dull forwards once more this year. You can’t depend on defender headers and own goals every week.

“Well done, Newcastle.”

deserved to win.

Spurs need to either improve their footwear or learn to focus on the game.

“He neglected to tie his bootlaces during all that faffing around during the warm-up.”

Fabian Schar Header Goal Newcastle Spurs

“Received what they were due for squandering time.”

That attempt at gamesmanship was pitiful.

My five-year-old kid is faster than that at tying his laces.

Really embarrassing, and it received the punishment it deserved.

Bravo, Newcastle. Keep it up. You cannot spend the money you have in the league, criminal.

“It is criminal that Saudi Arabia was permitted to purchase them.”

“Yeah, using the money you spend on polyester clothing and gasoline.” You individually pay NUFC players’ salaries unless you’re a member of “just stop oil.”

It’s wonderful to see Woltemade succeeding; he seems like a good man. Oh huh oh eh oh eh woltemad woltemade. Isak the cunning toad is unnecessary! From a Forest fan, well done, Eddie and the geordies.

Spurs also used a lot of rotation and benched five young players. But you’re right—fighting is a fundamental skill regardless of the team. Newcastle is doing well; I wish you luck in keeping the trophy.
