Argyle custodian Luca Ashby-Hammond saved Jacob Mendy’s powerful angled shot from the right but could not stop Morgan’s follow-up on the half hour.
Ashby-Hammond saved a penalty from Harry Leonard in the 23rd minute after the latter tripped Morgan while attempting to take the ball around him.
Plymouth thought a 41st-minute Alex Mitchell header had crossed the line when Alex Bass palmed it into the crossbar and it seemed to bounce down behind the goalie.
Bass produced a fantastic first-half stoppage-time save, deflecting Lorent Tolaj’s header around a post. In the 56th minute, Matty Sorinola sent a 25-yard shot just wide as Argyle looked for an equaliser.
Bass made another excellent save on the hour, deflecting Bali Mumba’s long-range shot. Tolaj’s scissor-kick in the 62nd minute beat Bass but bounced against the underside of the crossbar.
Dangerman Tolaj’s audacious 30-yard shot in the 75th minute was palmed around a post by Bass at full stretch, but Peterborough held on for back-to-back wins.
