The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) estimated that over 200 pubs closed in the UK in the first half of this year, which is consistent with official government numbers.
Rising taxes and operating costs are hitting this industry hard, particularly in the aftermath of the pandemic.
Perhaps it has something to do with the younger generation’s refusal to consume alcohol (I am one of them, sorry!). Whatever the reason for the fall, we wanted to highlight the finest of what was left.
