A man accused of mowing down two women in the city has appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court. Callum Hyde was charged after an incident near the Daimler Green Community Centre.
Police arrested Hyde after two people were intentionally injured by a car on Highley Drive on September 21. Both were treated for injuries that were determined not to be life threatening.
Hyde, 37, was accused with reckless driving, affray, and two counts of attempted injury. He appeared in Coventry Magistrates’ Court on September 26.
At Hyde’s initial hearing, no pleas were entered for any of the alleged charges. He is scheduled to appear again at Warwick Crown Court on October 24.
Police are still investigating the event and are ‘eager’ to speak with people who witnessed it. Information can be left on 101 or submitted anonymously to Crimestoppers.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “A man has been charged with attempted wounding after deliberately driving a car at pedestrians in Coventry.
Callum Hyde was accused and remanded after an incident outside the Daimler Green Community Centre on Highley Drive on September 21.
“Our investigation into the incident continues, and officers want to speak with anyone who witnessed what transpired.
Anyone who was in the neighbourhood at the time and has doorbell or dashcam footage of the incident or the circumstances leading up to it can contact 101 and reference crime number 20/383535/25.”
