Before Nottingham Forest leaves for its preseason training camp in Portugal, Morgan Gibbs-White wants his future handled.
After Tottenham activated the 25-year-old’s £60 million release clause, believing they had acquired the England international for a relative steal, the player became the focus of a heated transfer dispute.
Concerns over a violation of confidentially regarding the player’s release clause prompted Forest to retaliate, accusing the North London team of taking a “illegal approach” and announcing that they would be speaking with their lawyers.
After reporting Spurs to the Premier League, Forest stated that they thought the trade was off for the time being. Since then, Gibbs-White has resumed preseason training with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

According to the Daily Mail, Gibbs-White has been displaying a “exemplary attitude” in training despite the uncertainties surrounding his future, but he is still keen to join Thomas Frank’s Tottenham.

He wants to know where he will play football next season after speaking with Forest officials on Monday at the team’s training facility.

Given that Forest is getting ready for their first preseason friendly against Monaco on Saturday, Gibbs-White is “hopeful” a solution may be found before the end of the weekend. Forest will play local team Estoril Praia and Fulham while in Portugal.
According to the source, the “ball is in Tottenham’s court” and the Europa League winners are considering a second offer of about £65 million, though it’s unclear if that would be sufficient to persuade Forest to reconsider their mind.
