The hunt for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa by Newcastle United has taken a new turn.
The Magpies are still interested in the Congo international, according to talkSPORT, as they try to increase their offensive options. However, Brentford’s position has changed once more, making negotiations more difficult.
If their appraisal was satisfied, Brentford was amenable to talks about a possible sale earlier in the window.
But according to sources, the club has adopted a more assertive stance recently, essentially doubling down on its demands.
Newcastle United is instructed to raise their Wissa offer.
Newcastle may have to make a significantly bigger financial commitment as a result of this shift in strategy if they are to have any chance of acquiring the 28-year-old.
It is believed that Wissa is advocating for his departure. The striker has previously shown that he is open to a new challenge, and the chance to play in the Champions League at Newcastle is thought to be especially alluring.
Newcastle is obviously interested. Eddie Howe is eager to give his attacking department extra firepower.
The Magpies are lacking in attacking alternatives as a result of Callum Wilson’s departure from the team this summer, and Newcastle is also looking for a new striker because of Alexander Isak’s unclear future at St. James’ Park.
Brentford might prevent Wissa from relocating to St. James’ Park.
Brentford isn’t going to back down, though, unless Newcastle offers them what they want for the striker.
According to Sky Sports, the Magpies previously had one bid for the attacker turned down earlier in the summer.
Newcastle is prepared to put Brentford to the test once more, but Wissa’s future may not be settled unless the two teams can agree.
Newcastle United receives a stern warning from Liverpool about their pursuit of Alexander Isak.
