Steven Pressley hails Dundee courage after ‘amazing’ last-gasp Hibs leveller as he reveals Premier League eyes on Luke Graham

Steven Pressley hails Dundee courage after ‘amazing’ last-gasp Hibs leveller as he reveals Premier League eyes on Luke Graham.

The Dee trailed 3-2 at Dens Park before Cam Congreve’s last-gasp equaliser.

Cam Congreve’s remarkable last-gasp equaliser against Hibs demonstrated Dundee’s “amazing” character, according to Steven Pressley.

The Dark Blues manager revealed that the 3-3 tie, which saw three goals scored in the final 11 minutes of play and the lead swing one way and then the other, did not lower his blood pressure.

But he was ecstatic to see Congreve curl in to make it 3-3 with the game’s final attempt, moving Dundee one point clear of the Premiership relegation zone.

However, Pressley thought his team could have had more.

“For 80 minutes, I believed we were great.”Great credit to David Grey, who implemented some really positive changes,” the Dens manager stated. “The alterations startled us a little.

“We’d maintained outstanding ball control for 80 minutes before losing our way a little bit. “After losing two goals, I believe it’s easy for a team to fall apart, but we reacted in incredible form.

“It said a lot about the team and the spirit that we were able to rescue a point despite that setback.

“So I couldn’t be more proud. “For us, every point is extremely crucial.

“Especially given Hibs’ form coming into this game. “They went to Celtic Park and won last week, so it’s a valid point. “It’s just that at around the 80-minute mark, I felt that we could get the three.”

Murray confidence

Dundee had the better start as the two teams relaxed into the game, but the visitors gained the lead.

Nicky Cadden and Owen Elding were both dangerous throughout the 90 minutes, and they combined to score the opening goal.On 11 minutes, Cadden swept in a fantastic cross, allowing new kid Elding to score with a bullet header.

That lead didn’t last long, as Luke Graham lobbed an exquisite ball over the Hibs defence for Simon Murray’s wonderfully timed run.

Dundee’s captain is full of confidence, as evidenced by his cut back on Rocky Bushiri before striking low, the strike clipping the defender on its way inside the near post.

Murray scored his fourth goal in three games, putting a long drought behind him.

The Dark Blues finished the half on top as Tony Yogane and Congreve came into the game, with Yogane seeing a low pass across goal that just eluded Murray as he waited for a tap-in due to a touch from Raphael Sallinger’s toe.

Yan Dhanda sent a low effort narrowly wide from 20 yards, but both teams headed into the half equal.

And the battle dragged on until a show-stopping climax in which the contest swung one way, then another, and back again.

The Dark Blues had fired in cross after cross throughout the game, and one finally came off when Drey Wright centred for Luke Graham to charge in at the back post and put Dundee ahead.

Premier League eyes on Graham

The defender scored and assisted, and he appeared to have done enough to gain all three points for his club.

And his manager said that he received some admiring stares from Premier League Brentford. “He was outstanding,” Pressley stated of Graham’s performance.

The Brentford loans manager was here today, and he was impressed by Tony Yogane’s efforts. “They also mentioned Luke Graham and told me what a fantastic young player I had there.

“He’s correct. I felt the finish was of high quality. “This season, he has played on the right side of a back four.” It’s remarkable for a left-footer to be so comfortable on his right side.

His finish today was on the right side. “He just continues delivering these types of performances.

“That is why the club’s decision to turn down the money we offered in January will be proven correct.” “I think he’s worth every penny that we value him at.”

Show-stopping finish

However, the game shifted in Hibs’ direction, and it appeared that their late salvo had won the game.

Ethan Hamilton overplayed in midfield, and the visitors broke, putting substitute Ante Suto clear.

The Croatian controlled the ball well before finishing past Jon McCracken.

That was at 84 minutes, and by 89, Hibs were up 3-2. Former Dundee United schemer Jamie McGrath created space in the crowded Dee box before hitting low into the near post, eliciting wild celebrations in the away end.

However, the contest was not over.

With the game’s final kick, the ball dropped to Congreve on the edge of the area, where he curled a magnificent strike into the far corner.

“We’re working hard to improve some of our weaknesses while also building on some of our strengths. “These players have to implement it and I think they’ve shown the courage to do that.”

The point puts Dundee seven points ahead of Kilmarnock in tenth and two points behind Dundee United in eighth.

‘Amazing’

“I think both wide players were excellent today. “They get people out of their seats,” Pressley smiled.

“Of course, we wanted more goals from our wide guys, and Cam delivered brilliantly.
