“That’s what drives me personally” – Crystal Palace manager on what gets him going

Olivner Glasner, manager of Crystal Palace, has stated that he isn’t concerned about playing teams like Chelsea and Liverpool early in the season since he enjoys pushing himself against them.

In an interview with Sky Austria this week, the manager of Crystal Palace talks about his optimism over his team’s challenging start to the season.

After winning the FA Cup the previous season, Crystal Palace takes on Liverpool in the Community Shield to begin the season. On the first day of the Premier League season, they play Chelsea.

As they take on Arne Slot’s team following a busy summer in which they spent €308 million on players like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong, the Eagles could not ask for a more challenging start to the season. Alexander Isak is also the target of a €100 million deal.

Chelsea, on the other hand, won the Club World Cup in America and invested heavily on acquisitions of Estêvão, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, and Joao Pedro. They probably couldn’t have prevented that expenditure either.

Glasner, however, is unconcerned and welcomes the chance to put his and Crystal Palace’s abilities to the test against such opponents.

The fun thing about life, in my opinion, is that it pushes you to overcome obstacles and consider how you may defeat these teams. We had that prior to our match versus City in the FA Cup final, and we still have it in the Community Shield,” he stated.

That’s what motivates me personally right now, yeah, and it also pushes my bounds, yes, to the point that Oliver Glasner must continually reinvent himself and consider how he and his team can better the game in order to be competitive once more.

“We play against Liverpool, who were champions and had excellent self-strength.” We were only unable to add more players, but we managed to maintain the team intact. We won’t be flying a white flag at Wembley and Stamford Bridge, even though we could just replace them.

Rather, we will maximize our preparation and enter the game believing that we have a chance to win. I can then say, “That worked three months ago, and it will work again now,” which is what makes it so thrilling.

“No, in order to defeat these teams once more, we need to make a few minor changes, perhaps add a few minor alterations, and approach things a bit differently.”
