Tomorrows Travel has taken delivery of its first new vehicles, two Alexander Dennis Enviro400 double-deck buses. Such an expenditure, according to the Poole operator, marks the beginning of a new age for its consumer offerings.

The company will celebrate its third birthday in early 2026. Each Enviro400 has the operator’s trademark purple livery.

On September 1, they went into operation with 75 registration plates. Commercial and Engineering Director Jay Thornton told routeone that the new buses will replace outdated seatbelt-equipped double-deckers in Tomorrows Travel’s fleet.

The demand for high-capacity vehicles is increasing, and the Enviro400s each accommodate 85 passengers.

“Additionally, we have won multiple additional school and college contracts and have retained the existing contracts we had, which these buses will be used on in addition to private hire,” according to him.

New cars were chosen “to enhance the fleet, increase our offering, improve reliability, and subsequently reduce costs,” according to Mr Thornton.

“We are starting to see the disadvantage of utilising older vehicles, even though they are well-maintained, on front-line, long-distance work,” explains the engineer.

Tomorrows Travel has invested nearly £1 million over the last 12 months to accommodate consumer demand.

Success in the education market has positioned the Dorset company as the second-largest school and college contract operator in Bournemouth, Poole, and the surrounding areas.

Delivering quality, choice, and reliability to clients while making prudent investments for the future in a competitive but diverse environment influenced the decision to go with new vehicles, according to Mr Thornton.

“Our clients have looked to us for quality, reliable, high-capacity solutions for longer distances alongside our executive coach fleet and we have delivered every time,” he claims.

“We recognised that there was a need over want to shift towards a brand-new double-decker fleet earlier than we initially anticipated to counteract future problems with operating older vehicles on front-line work for long hours at distance while ensuring that all of our fleet is seatbelted and distance capable in comfort.”

The newcomers’ specifications include the builder’s new digital cockpit, a PA and sound system compliant with the PSV Accessible Information Regulations, Journeo CCTV technology, and alloy wheels.

According to Alexander Dennis, the Cummins B6.7 engine has been upgraded to handle longer distances and faster speeds.

Tomorrow’s Travel Operations and Finance Director Jason Cousins describes the two Enviro400s as “a proactive investment.”

He keeps going: “We need the best years these vehicles have to offer and we have committed to brand new investments slightly earlier than we had planned to bolster the business that we can move forward with and develop in the current shifting and competitive climate,”Mark Taylor, Alexander Dennis Regional Sales Manager, praised Tomorrows Travel for their business.

He observes that Mr Cousins and Mr Thornton have “infectious” enthusiasm for their company and sector.

“These two new Enviro400s will mark the beginning of a new era at Tomorrows Travel, giving customers a comfortable journey in a modern, class-leading vehicle – I wish them both every success going forward.”
