Tottenham shift transfer focus from Gibbs-White to Fulham flop with £25m bid planned

Morgan Gibbs-White’s hopes of joining Tottenham Hotspur seem to have been put on ice.

A handful of distinct developments in the transfer gossip mill today suggest that the Nottingham Forest midfielder’s move to Tottenham is off the table.

As previously reported by NationalWorld, Spurs had reached a deal with Gibbs-White and had scheduled a physical for the 25-year-old before Forest claimed that the London club had made an illegal bid for their top player.

Now, the England international has headed to Portugal to join Forest on their pre-season tour. They will play Fulham on Saturday, July 26, followed by Estoril Praia of Portugal four days later.

Gibbs-White played 45 minutes in last weekend’s 0-0 draw with AS Monaco, demonstrating that he is still an important part of manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans.

In other news, Tottenham has turned their attention to another midfield player.

Spurs are reportedly interested in Joao Palinha, a midfielder for Bayern Munich, according to TalkSport. Last summer, the Portugal international paid £46.5 million to join the German team from Fulham.

Despite playing 25 games for Bayern last season, the 30-year-old did not contribute any goals or assists. But he mostly only made brief appearances off the bench.

According to reports, Bayern would take offers for their midfield player of up to £25 million, which is about half of what they spent for him a year later.
