Trains cancelled after fires beside the mainline.
Rail commuters have faced delays and cancellations due to “multiple” fires near the line.
The fires on Monday, between Chelmsford and Ingatestone in Essex, shut down a northbound section of the London-Norwich mainline.
The fire brigade and Network Rail issued an update around 07:30 BST, stating that the track-side fires had been extinguished and the line had reopened, but that disruption was expected until 10:45. Trains running from Liverpool Street to Braintree, Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich, and Norwich were all affected.
A Greater Anglia spokesperson stated that trains at those stations may be cancelled, delayed, or revised. “Following multiple fires next to the railway line between Ingatestone and Chelmsford earlier today, all lines have reopened,” according to the announcement.
