According to BBC Wales, Wrexham is getting ready to start contract talks with Josh Windass, who was let go by his former team, Sheffield Wednesday.
With their third straight promotion, Wrexham is off to a strong start to the off-season. The Red Dragons, who have earned a spot in the Championship, are eager to make a name for themselves in the second tier of England.
After finishing in second position in League One, the Welsh team will look to start the 2025–2026 season strong. Ryan Hardie, Danny Ward, and the high-profile acquisition of Liberato Cacace, a New Zealand international, have already bolstered their team.
With another forward deal firmly on his radar, manager Phil Parkinson is expected to keep bolstering his squad.
Wrexham is getting ready to start talks with Josh Windass, a free agent, about moving to Wales, according to BBC Wales.
By mutual agreement, Windass left Sheffield Wednesday this week. Due to concerns about unpaid salaries, he was among the numerous players that were unhappy with the club.
Since his release, he has had no shortage of suitors. He has drawn interest from a number of Championship teams as well as Rangers, a Scottish team.
However, Wrexham is working quickly to get Windass to sign.
A potential partnership in the works
The Red Dragons might have an intriguing striker tandem if Wrexham prevails in the competition for Windass. They will have two potent forwards in the Championship because Ryan Hardie has already joined the team from Plymouth Argyle.
Additionally, the two would be a great match. Hardie likes to run the channels and shift the defense to give Windass more room to work, while Windass likes to drop a little deeper and search for the ball at his feet.
They scored 23 goals for two below-average teams in the Championship last season. Wrexham will be ecstatic if they can approach such figures the next season.
Birmingham City, another promoted team, has had a greater market influence than Wrexham.
The additions they have made, though, seem promising. But this season, the Championship seems to be in excellent form. The Red Dragons will need to make big acquisitions if they want to stay in the league.
