Mawney Road Romford HMO wants to expand to up to 8 people

Mawney Road Romford HMO wants to expand to up to 8 people.

An existing house in multiple occupation (HMO) in Romford might be expanded to accommodate up to eight people.

223 Mawney Road is thought to be a Class 4 home in multiple occupation, which means it is classified as a small HMO that houses three to six unrelated persons and provides shared utilities.

A large HMO is defined as housing seven or more people.

According to the council’s planning portal, planning authorities are being requested to review a proposal to increase the home’s capacity to accommodate up to eight inhabitants.

The applicant is requesting clearance for a “change of use from an existing HMO to an eight-person HMO, including hip-to-gable loft conversion with rear dormer and front roof lights”.

223 Mawney Road is a bungalow with all six bedrooms on the ground floor, each with its own en suite, and a combined dining and kitchen area on the same level. If designs are granted, an extension will provide more space for more people, including two additional bedrooms and a living area.

The project may begin as early as August and, according to the application form, end in November.

Havering Council is anticipated to make a decision on the subject by May 15.
