Cameras installed near KFC on the Burges in Coventry over ‘illegal parking’.
Concerns have been expressed regarding unlawful parking near McDonalds and KFC.
Cameras have been erected on the Burgesin Coventry to combat unlawful parking. Vehicles had long caused issues by stopping near McDonald’s and KFC.
Councillor Naeem Akhtar said that two new CCTV cameras are now operational on Cross Cheaping. Drivers will be monitored 24 hours a day.
Cllr Akhtar stated today that the measure was in response to numerous occurrences of ‘dangerous’ parking. Motorists that ignore Burges limits will face a fine.
Cllr Akhtar told CoventryLive: “We have received numerous complaints from residents about dangerous and obstructive parking on the Burges.” Initially, Coventry City Council implemented a Red Route and an ANPR enforcement vehicle to address the issue.
“However, some cars have continued to ignore the rules, causing delays for buses and other road users. We analysed this strategy and adopted a more permanent solution.
“Coventry City Council has now agreed to install CCTV cameras to ensure that the limits are enforced around the clock. We are committed to investing in road safety to make our roads safer for all users.
