Exclusive: Legendary former Millwall midfielder backs Alex Neil’s side to earn promotion to Premier League.

By Tom Appleby FORMER Millwall player Eamon Dunphy believes Alex Neil’s side will gain promotion to the Premier League this season. Dunphy, 80, made 302 appearances for the Lions between 1965 and 1974, ranking 23rd all-time. He tallied 25 goals for the club.

The Dublin-born midfielder helped the club to a historic home undefeated streak in the 1960s and was a member of the team that missed out on promotion to the First Division by one point in 1972.

He was Millwall’s most capped international footballer at the time, having appeared for Ireland 23 times.

After retiring from playing in 1978 after a period with Dublin’s Shamrock Rovers, Dunphy went on to become a successful journalist, novelist, broadcaster, and a prominent football analyst on RTE. Is his book Only a Game? The Diary of an…
