Leeds United ‘reigniting interest’ in ex-Norwich City star Jonathan Rowe as £17m price tag mooted

According to reports, Leeds United has rekindled their interest in Jonathan Rowe, a former Norwich City winger for Marseille.

Leeds attempted to sign Rowe to move to West Yorkshire last year while he was still a member of Carrow Road’s roster.

They were defeated by Marseille, a Ligue 1 team, who signed Rowe to a season-long loan before completing the transfer.

After another summer transfer window, Leeds has once more been outbid by Marseille.

Igor Paixão, who moved from Feyenoord to Marseille, was the objective of the Whites. But Leeds might have been able to acquire a different winger as a result of the trade.

There is a transfer opportunity for Leeds United.

According to TEAMtalk, Marseille has become stronger overall and is more open to the idea of moving Rowe on after acquiring Timothy Weah and Paixão.

According to reports, Leeds is now again vying for the £17 million England youth international.

Jonathan Rowe represented England Under-21s at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship this summer.

The winger, who has three goals in 30 games since moving to France, is reportedly being pursued by four Premier League teams, including Leeds.

Jonathan Rowe made 30 appearances for Marseille last season.

Jonathan Rowe’s potential at Leeds United

Despite showing many signs of his talent in his debut season, Rowe hasn’t exactly taken Ligue 1 by storm.

Additionally, he had a successful 2023–24 season with Norwich, helping the Canaries advance to the play-off semifinals.

Even while he might not be considered a major improvement over Largie Ramazani, Wilfried Gnonto, or Daniel James, his native status could be appealing, and healthy competition will once more be essential.

Following Manor Solomon’s return to his parent club, Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds are lacking a winger.

The Whites should ideally not have any areas that appear weaker than they did the previous season since they enter a division that is much more difficult.
