Hibs vs Legia Warsaw LIVE as David Gray’s men escape with a 2-1 defeat that could have been much worse.

Not a good night for Hibs, but it could have been far worse. David Gray’s team scored late in their 2-1 Conference League playoff first leg loss to Legia Warsaw.

Overturning things in the Polish capital will be a tall order, but at one point it appeared to be a damage limitation mission.

The hosts started well, but Josh Mulligan and Kieron Bowie both missed chances. However, when Legia awoke, they made the Hibees pay.

Rocky Bushir’s block (not his first of the night) appeared legitimate, but a VAR check and subsequent images revealed that he used his arm to block a shot that was about to go in.

Jean-Pierre Nsame finished the spot kick in style. At halftime, the score was 2-0. Pawel Mszolek ghosted in at the back post to volley home Nsame’s cross, leaving Hibs with a mountain to climb.

The Poles thought it was 3-0 after the break when Bartosz Kapustka completed a fine team move. However, a VAR check for offside in the buildup ruled it out.

Vahan Bichakhchyan missed a clear chance from close range, and Hibs took advantage when Mulligan shot low, offering a glimmer of hope for next week.
