Coventry company reveals ‘difficult but necessary’ reason why it closed city branch.
A Coventry-based company has explained why it chose to close its city branch.
CoventryLive recently reported that Jewsons builders merchants on Humber Road had closed, despite the fact that Jewsons and its parent company, STARK UK, have headquarters nearby.
Jewsons recently announced on its website that the branch was closed, directing customers to locations outside of the city.
We can now reveal that the location of the closed branch was not ideal, and the facilities were not up to the company’s standards.
A representative from STARK UK stated: “Our STARK Building Material UK businesses, like Jewson, are household names in the industry, and they’ve evolved over the years to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our customers.” We are always responding to market conditions and what our customers expect from their local builders’ merchant.
We aim to provide the necessary products, services, and expertise for Coventry’s hard-working general builders and specialist tradespeople.”
That is why we made the difficult but necessary decision to close the Jewson branch in the city, as the location was not ideal for our customers and the facilities did not meet the standards Jewson expects.”
For now, we have four Jewson branches less than 10 miles from the former Coventry branch, and our teams are already welcoming and looking after customers who have been impacted by the site’s closure;
these are the Jewson branches in Nuneaton, Bedworth, and Leamington Spa.”
