West Brom Set To Scoop Up Premier League Club’s Star, Medical Set.
West Brom are ready to sign Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist, who will undergo a medical today, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Baggies have had a quiet transfer season so far, but as the window nears its end, Ryan Mason is pressing for some last-minute additions.
Mason prioritised defence this summer, bringing in veteran Nat Phillips from Liverpool and Krystian Bielik from Birmingham City early in the transfer window.
They have reached an agreement with Premier League club Bournemouth to recruit Chris Mepham, who played for Sunderland last season.
The West Brom manager is now aiming to strengthen their right-back position, and they are seriously interested in signing Chelsea academy product Gilchrist. ilchrist.

Chelsea initially set a £5 million asking price for Gilchrist, but earlier this month it was reported that they had opted to lower the price, believing that a deal could be done for more than £1.5 million.
West Brom have reportedly agreed to sign Gilchrist on a permanent basis from Chelsea.
Mason’s team is due to pay a sum of £2 million plus add-ons, and he is expected to have a physical today before completing his transfer.
West Brom are also expected to lose wide player Tom Fellows to Championship rivals Southampton, who have agreed a large fee for his departure.
The Baggies have only signed one forward this summer, Aune Heggebo from SK Brann, and former Norwegian great Jesper Mathisen believes he can be a success for West Brom owing to his skill set.
