Crews were dispatched after 4 a.m. on Friday, with three appliances on scene and firefighters trying to extinguish the fire.
Residents in Dundee, Newport, and Tayport should keep their windows and doors closed due to the high amounts of smoke in the area.
A statement read: “We are on the scene at a fire affecting a significant area within a recycling centre on Wright Avenue in Dundee.
“Due to the amount of smoke in the vicinity, people in Dundee, Newport, and Tayport are recommended to keep their windows and doors closed.
“We have three fire trucks on scene, and firemen are working to extinguish the fire. “There are no reported casualties.”
