‘Hard working’ Dundee ‘getting their reward’ – Pressley.
Steven Pressley hopes Dundee can continue to “get their reward” for their early-season hard work and unity with a win over “good example” St Mirren.
Pressley secured his first Scottish Premiership victory as Dundee manager on Saturday when a 97th-minute penalty denied Livingston a dramatic comeback. “The weekend demonstrated a togetherness within the group that makes me proud and helps to build foundations for the future,” Dens Park’s owner stated.
“We are in the early stages of development.”
This season will be difficult, with some incredibly challenging times, but we’re all fighting for the same goal and working extremely hard to get better.
“You can only learn via experience. We were up 2-0 against Livingston before losing two goals, so we’ll learn from it and hopefully improve.
“The players are a credit to themselves and a real enjoyment for me to work with, so we’re getting that reward.” Dundee travel to Stephen Robinson’s “exemplary” Premier Sports Cup semi-finalists this weekend, but Pressley feels his team can “build momentum” with back-to-back wins.
“St Mirren are a very good side and good example to clubs like us,” according to him. They recruit well for their style of play and have an extremely powerful physical team.
Going there is a tremendous challenge, but we’re looking forward to the game. “Another victory would fuel that momentum, which is critical in football. “If we can keep moving forward, you never know.”
