Bushey and Watford ‘suffering modern-day plague of potholes’.
Watford, Bushey, and the rest of Britain are suffering from a modern-day plague: potholes.
They’re everywhere – if you can notice them before they catch you. Unlit roadways are especially perilous. They harm our vehicles and cost us money.
According to the Watford Observer, a former Labour councillor compared a prominent route in Meriden to “a Winter Olympics slalom course”. He is not wrong. Indeed, I reported potholes after residents at my ‘Tea with your MP’ event at the Community Centre highlighted them. Everyone knows about at least one location.
Unfortunately, dangerous potholes are nothing new and must be eliminated as soon as possible.
Liberal Democrat-run Hertfordshire County Council is responsible for highways, hence potholes should not be blamed on any government, regardless of colour. This is especially true given that the government is flush with cash.
Along with other Hertfordshire Labour MPs, I wrote to the council leader, demanding that he utilise the extraordinary £180 million provided by the Labour government for our roads properly. Apparently, repairing the roads is his “top priority”. Who knew? But who saw the results?

Speaking of holes, Reform was digging more this week. In an unsuccessful attempt to prevent Nigel Farage from appearing like the one-man band he is, they attempted to assemble a shadow government of only eight MPs.
Clearly, there is a limit to what you can accomplish with failed Tory turncoats. Two were not even given a position, and their first female MP was completely shut out.
Reforms are like potholes: they’re harmful and should be avoided before causing damage and costing you money.
