Brighton owner Tony Bloom sets out big ambitions for 2025-26

Brighton owner Tony Bloom sets out big ambitions for 2025-26.

Tony Bloom has set his sights on cutlery and a European double for Albion. But he acknowledges that they face stiff competition in both men’s and women’s football.

The Seagulls’ owner and chairman has been setting the bar high at Hearts, the Scottish Premiership club in which he owns a 29% stake.

Meanwhile, his Belgian team, Royale Union St-Gilloise, has had a strong start to their title defence, winning their first home game 5-0. Albion’s ambition, however, remains as strong as ever as they prepare for Premier League and Women’s Super League campaigns.

The club’s long-term goal is to consistently finish in the top ten for men and top four for women.

That has been in place since the summer of 2019, when Graham Potter and Hope Powell led the senior teams. But the challenge for Fabian Hurzeler and Dario Vidosic extends beyond that.

Bloom told in-house media for the Albion podcast: “I believe both of our squads will be as good as they have ever been, if not better.” “We want to be successful with both our men’s and women’s teams. “The goal is to win as many games as possible, win a trophy, and qualify to compete in Europe the following season.

“I know that sounds tough and the competition is fierce but we have to believe in ourselves and aim high.” Bloom’s message, recorded last month while he was with the squad in Marbella, was made public this week.

In a separate event in Edinburgh, he promised to break up Glasgow’s big two in Scotland with Hearts, whom he then watched defeat Aberdeen 2-0 in their first Premiership fixture of the new season.
