Wolves player covered an incredible 11.7km vs Man City, even more than Tijjani Reijnders

Debutant Tijjani Reijnders was one of Man City’s greatest players over the weekend, seemingly covering every blade of grass in an incredible display, but one Wolves player put in even more effort.

Despite losing by four goals, there were some encouraging parts of Wolves’ performance, but trying to find the bright side of Saturday’s defeat demands a true glass-half-full mindset.

Moller, David Wolfe’s speed versus City bodes well, while another Wolves player’s engine was very impressive.

Tijjani Reijnders is surpassed by Marshall Munetsi’s 11.7 km run against Man City.

Some Wolves supporters were perplexed by Vitor Pereira’s front-line selections because neither Fer Lopez nor Jon Arias received their first Premier League start.

Marshall Munetsi and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde were chosen instead; the latter’s work pace supported his admission and caused City some issues.

Nico Gonzalez of Manchester City is put under pressure by Jorgen Strand Larsen of Wolverhampton Wanderers

Munetsi ran 11.7 km, which was the most of any Wolves player and second-highest for the day, after Nico Gonzalez of City, according to FootMob.

Pereira probably wanted a physical presence to put pressure on City’s back line, which is why he started the 29-year-old. He undoubtedly did, and he contributed to the majority of Wolves’ subsequent success, despite one issue with his offensive style.

Wolves and Marshall Munetsi had issues because of Man City’s high line.

On Saturday, Munetsi scored with a beautiful header in the first half, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

It would not be the last time that the flag was hoisted in support of Munetsi. The Zimbabwean international will need to improve on it if he wants to be a consistent member of the Wolves attack.

However, Munetsi’s performance against City was positive overall. This season, Pereira will benefit greatly from his physical presence, using him in games where Wolves must apply pressure.

He has demonstrated that he is capable of putting in a lot of effort when running. Now, Munetsi could have a breakthrough season if he can add a little more offensive awareness and poise in front of goal.

It would be useful to us.
