Man City XI vs Tottenham: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, injury latest for Premier League

Pep Guardiola’s team hopes to win two straight games.

When the two teams play this weekend, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will be cautious of Tottenham’s strong record against his team.

Erling Haaland scored twice as Pep Guardiola’s team crushed Wolves 4-0 in their season opener, and Tijjani Reijnders had an impressive start in competition after joining from AC Milan in the summer. Spurs, meanwhile, won 3-0 at home against Burnley.

The last time these two teams faced off, City won 1-0 over Tottenham in a Premier League match in February 2025, with Haaland scoring for the visitors.

But historically, City has had trouble against the north London team; in their last 12 Premier League meetings, they have only won four, drawn twice, and lost six, including a 4-0 loss at home in the same matchup last season.

Before the game, City is concerned about a few injuries.

In his pregame press conference on Friday, Guardiola is anticipated to give an update on Phil Foden and Rodri after implying that both were nearing a comeback for the Wolves game.

Josko Gvardiol, who was unable to attend the Molineux trip, will probably also be brought up.

After getting hurt in City’s last preseason game, Savinho was unable to go to Wolves. The Brazilian, who has also been connected to a possible move from the Etihad, is anticipated to receive an update from the City manager.

As he recovers from an Achilles injury, Mateo Kovacic is still likely to be sidelined until at least September.

It is anticipated that James Trafford will stay in his position as City’s goalkeeping scenario develops further. Due to an injury, Ederson was unable to play against Wolves and has since been linked to a move to Galatasaray. Meanwhile, City has been linked to signing Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was exiled from PSG.
