Tottenham considering ‘excellent’ forward who will be sold on one condition

According to their former scout, Tottenham has been identified as a team to keep an eye on as they look to bolster their roster in 2026.

In an exclusive interview with Football Insider, Mick Brown, a former top scout for Man United and Aston Villa who still has strong ties to his previous teams, stated that Thomas Frank is not “wholly satisfied” with the club’s summer business.

They are in a good position to pursue their interest in the offensive midfielder after Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers became a major target during the summer transfer window.

The England international is still a top target for several elite teams, even if a January transfer is currently regarded as extremely unlikely.

This follows Football Insider’s exclusive disclosure on August 25 that Tottenham had initial talks about signing Rogers.

Tottenham could become more interested in acquiring Morgan Rogers.

On August 28, Brown informed Football Insider that Villa and Tottenham were discussing Rogers and whether a late deal could be reached before the summer deadline.

Spurs are one of the teams that might entice the forward away from Villa Park, according to the former scout, who has extensive experience in recruiting elite players after spending more than ten years at Manchester United during their most successful time there.

He told Football Insider, “He did a great job for Villa last year.”

There will be some questions because they don’t seem like the same team this year and have had a bad start to the season. Some of their players, including Rogers, will have their futures called into question.

“I’ve heard that Tottenham is one of the several clubs interested in him. I don’t think they’re quite happy with the work they’ve done, and they want to add to the players they brought in during the summer.

“He’s proving to be a really talented player, and while I don’t share his enthusiasm, I know a lot of people are infatuated with him.

“There’s no reason he wouldn’t be considering his alternatives if these interested clubs come up, especially if Villa continues their dismal start. Given the cost and the importance of he is to Villa, I wouldn’t anticipate it happening in January, but perhaps next summer.

“There will be a lot of clubs on alert if he becomes available, but Tottenham, who are huge fans of his, might be someone to watch.”

Liverpool and Chelsea were among the teams that expressed interest in signing the England star in the summer, joining Tottenham.

Rogers’ sale will only be considered by Aston Villa under one condition.

Villa’s poor start to the season—they haven’t won or scored in three games—raises concerns about their drop from the previous year.

Given Aston Villa’s dismal start and concerns over the long-term prospects of their best players, Emery may face pressure there.

Rogers is attracting a lot of interest from Champions League teams like Tottenham and Chelsea, so if their poor play persists, he might be persuaded to go.

On August 31, Football Insider reported that Aston Villa will struggle to retain Rogers and that a “huge” bid would be necessary to complete a trade.

However, with other teams ready to jump in and sign him, their standing could be in jeopardy if they keep losing games.
