Gang of street drinkers caught flouting ban near block of Coventry flats.
The Public Space Protection Order covers the entire city.
A band of street drinkers was found violating a restriction near a block of flats in Coventry.
There is currently a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in effect throughout the city, which prohibits street drinking.
Officers from the Foleshill Neighbourhood Team discovered that a group of drinkers had been sitting and drinking in a green space outside Falkener House on Stoney Stanton Road.
They said they informed the group of the ban. They said they are currently working with the council and local housing officers to address the issue. It is part of the team’s efforts to combat antisocial behaviour.
One of the focus places is Edgwick Park, where the team says they’ve been doing targeted patrols. This is done to determine who is liable.
“We have been made aware of people sitting on a green space outside Falkener House on Stoney Stanton Road,” the team’s most recent community update states.
“Officers have dealt with individuals this week, informing them that Coventry has a citywide PSPO (Public Space Protection Order) prohibiting drinking on the streets.
Officers are working in cooperation with Coventry City and local housing officers to tackle ASB and street drinking.
