34 arrests in Leeds in one day as Op Jetshot is underway.
The police Safer Streets initiative aims to combat community crime.
More than 30 people were arrested in Leeds in just one day as police attempted to curb local criminality.
As part of Operation Jetshot, West Yorkshire Police teams worked yesterday to apprehend suspects in Leeds’ city centre and throughout the city.
The police were also working to reassure citizens while maintaining a visible presence in Leeds. In total, 34 people were arrested in the area for stealing, robbery, auto theft, drug crimes, sexual offences, and assault.
Beeston police executed a warrant after receiving information about probable narcotics crimes.

High-visibility patrols were conducted in the city centre, with assistance from the police Mounted Section.
Armley stores received three closure orders after thousands of pounds worth of illegal cigarettes, tobacco, vapes, and alcohol were seized.
A police engagement vehicle was also stationed on Boar Lane in Leeds city centre, with additional engagement activities taking place in Springs Retail Park and with schoolchildren.
The off-road bike team also conducted an operation, and traffic operations, in collaboration with the DVLA, resulted in checks on approximately 80 vehicles, with two immediate suspensions, two summons, two postponed notices, and one vehicle seized due to the driver’s lack of insurance.
The Leeds City Neighbourhood Policing Team removed four electric bikes from the road, with three people arrested for driving without insurance and other crimes. In total, 11 vehicles were seized, 21 Traffic Offence Reports were issued to drivers for five fatal violations, and two Section 59 notifications were issued to drivers for being negligent with their vehicles.

Superintendent Matthew Scott of Leeds District Police stated, “The public repeatedly tells us they want to see more police officers in their communities, and Operation Jetshot achieved exactly that.
It brought together district and expert resources in a very visible way to execute warrants, arrest suspects, deter criminal activity, and interact directly with the public. “This is not a one-time event. Jetshot highlighted the daily effort being done across Leeds District to keep people safe.
Throughout the summer, we firmly backed the Safer Streets campaign, which aimed to combat shop theft, street crime, and bad conduct in our city and town centres, and we saw some fantastic outcomes.
“A pivotal milestone in the operation was our public street briefing with our partner agencies, who are critical to the effectiveness of fighting crime and protecting vulnerable people in Leeds every day, and I’d want to publicly thank them for their ongoing commitment.
