Duxbury: ”Many supporters wish Gracia had never left’.

Watford chairman Scott Duxbury admitted that ‘there are many supporters who wish Javi Gracia had never gone’ after the Spaniard was reappointed as the club’s head coach.

Gracia has succeeded Paulo Pezzolano, who was fired today after fan dissatisfaction and doubt over the team’s direction dominated his tenure at the club, despite three wins in nine league games.

The new manager left the Hornets in September 2019 after taking them to the FA Cup final and their highest ever Premier League finish in 2018/19.

Duxbury stated, “We are delighted to welcome Javi back. “His passion, leadership, and clear approach will help us achieve stability, unity, and momentum.

“We are sure there are many supporters who wish Javi had not left in 2019. With this youthful and vibrant group, we believe his experience and abilities are exactly what we need right now.”

Gracia left just four league games into the 2019/20 Premier League relegation campaign, and the team never recovered from his dismissal.

It is known that Duxbury was a significant driving force in getting the deal to bring Gracia back through, and the 55-year-old will take over immediately, ahead of his first game at Sheffield United in ten days.
