Rail disruption out of Norwich as person hit by train.

Rail services from Norwich to a major airport were disrupted this morning after a person was hit by a train.

Greater Anglia services between Norwich and Stansted Airport had been severely delayed.

The incident occurred between Cambridge and Royston and has left trains unable to leave Cambridge station, with services arriving delayed.

Trains between London Liverpool Street and Cambridge North were also impacted.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to Meldreth railway station at around 9am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Greater Anglia has since confirmed that services are now running on time again.
