Walcott man jailed for 100mph crash on NDR at Rackheath.
A high-octane vehicle enthusiast was jailed for a tragic crash after repeatedly filmed himself driving at speeds above 100 mph.
Reece Reddell-Gee, 26, had been driving at high speeds without headlights when he overturned his Ford Focus ST in the early hours of February 6.
His passenger, a woman in her twenties, had life-changing injuries in the incident on the Northern Distributor Road near Rackheath, including a shattered spine and a major cut to her head.
According to Norwich Crown Court, she pleaded with him to stop and put on the lights. Reddell-Gee apologised to his companion moments before losing control of the driving wheel.
However, Judge Alice Robinson sentenced him, saying, “You were simply reckless rather than being immature.” She went further:
“Evidence from your phone shows this was far from being an isolated incident.” Following the sentencing, PC Liam Nicklin of the Roads and Armed Policing Team stated, “Having attended many collisions as a roads policing officer, I was shocked that this did not result in fatalities.” “Several wooden spikes hit the vehicle and the passenger headrest.
Reddell-Gee and his passenger are fortunate to be alive. “If he continues to drive like this in the future, he will kill someone, whether that be himself or another.”
