One person killed following single-vehicle crash in Charlton

A single-vehicle collision in Charlton resulted in one fatality.

Early on Thursday morning, a single-vehicle collision in Charlton claimed one life.

Police said they received multiple reports of a car crash on Southbridge Road (Route 169) at approximately 4:15 a.m. When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered the 2012 Honda Fit being driven by a single man driver who had serious injuries. After being brought to UMASS-Harrington Memorial Hospital, the guy died from his wounds.

According to an initial inquiry, the vehicle was heading north on Southbridge Road when it veered off the road and struck a stone wall. The event is being investigated by the Charlton Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
