Steel City Derby: No trams to Hillsborough two hours before kick off between Sheffield United & Wednesday.

Sheffield’s tram services will NOT go to Hillsborough this Sunday in preparation for the Steel City Derby – here’s everything you should know.

This Sunday (November 23), Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday will face off again at Hillsborough Stadium. Hillsborough was packed with Owls preparing to greet Blades at the tram stop for the last derby on March 16 of this year.

Fans were spotted hanging from traffic lights with blue smoke flares and ready to yell, with hundreds of police officers separating the two sides.

This year, after weeks of hardship for Wednesdayites following Dejphon Chansiri’s departure and the club’s collapse into administration – which has only left fans hopeful for the future – it is expected to be an exceptionally tense Sunday for the city.

However, Supertram South Yorkshire has guaranteed that no trams would travel to Hillsborough in the two hours leading up to the event.
