Millwall boss explains why duo withdrew from international duty

Millwall boss explains why duo withdrew from international duty.

ALEX Neil explained why Mihailo Ivanovic and Daniel Kelly left international duty, claiming minor injuries.

Ivanovic and Kelly were both called up to the Serbian and Scottish under-21 squads, however both were dropped before the first game of the international break.

Kelly just recovered from a hamstring injury incurred in mid-September, replacing Derek Mazou-Sacko in the 89th minute of Preston North End’s 1-1 draw before the break.

Ivanovic appeared to have suffered a knock in the same game, but he was cleared to continue and played the majority of the match. “Both of the lads picked up knocks,” Neil told NewsAtDen. “Dan is still feeling his quadriceps and hamstrings.

He did not train enough for us to include him in the final game, but we did because we lacked numbers in that area. “Mihailo went down and appeared to have twisted his knee.” He received another kick to the ankle as well. So there were a few tiny bits and bobs for him, but they hadn’t given him as much training as we would have liked.

When asked if it would affect his availability for Millwall’s trip to Portsmouth on Saturday, Neil replied, “We’ll see how the rest of the week goes.

“We expect him to workout today, so we’ll see how he looks then. But I don’t want to say yes only to find out he isn’t available. “Or vice versa.”
