Car fire on B1113 at Swardeston causes gridlock for drivers.
A dramatic automobile fire has caused traffic along Norfolk’s country lanes.
The fire broke out around 8.20 a.m. today on the B1113 at Swardeston, the primary route for cars trying to avoid the roadworks on the A11.
Thick plumes of black smoke were seen rising from the truck, which was entirely engulfed in flames.
Police and fire crews are now on the scene. According to an eyewitness, “every single country lane is now gridlocked” as a result of the fire.
A representative for Norfolk Constabulary confirmed that the fire was doused just after 9 a.m., but that the vehicle had yet to be retrieved.
The extent of any injuries is unknown. We have contacted the East of England Ambulance Service for comment.
