Sheffield Supertram: City wide disruptions this morning with trams cancelled and passengers urged to take bus
Sheffield Supertram: City wide disruptions this morning with trams cancelled and passengers urged to take bus.
Trams are cancelled around Sheffield this morning, and customers are advised to take buses.
Passengers on trams across the city were caught off guard in the last hour when drivers announced that they would have to get off and find buses to continue their journey.
According to Supertram’s official website on X, this is due to a “operational issue” with “overhead lines.” One tweet at 8.23 a.m. reads: “Tram services across the majority of the network are currently suspended owing to an operational fault.
The only tram service runs between Cathedral, Middlewood, and Malin Bridge. “Ticket acceptance on First buses has been agreed upon.”
A following tweet reads: “There are now difficulties across the network. Tram tickets are accepted on First services in impacted areas, as well as Northern trains between Rotherham Central and Sheffield Station.
This morning, commuters and schoolchildren in Sheffield face gridlock. One passenger, @lucyclembo, writes:
“We were just thrown off at Hackenthorpe, no one could hear the messages.” Another customer, @abhaym312, said that “all trams were cancelled today, and no alternative options were provided.”
What do people who have already purchased monthly tickets do? I paid £11 today to order an Uber. Is this disruption ongoing?”
