From mid-December, 5 new bus services will connect north-east residents to the city.
- The LTA will debut five new city-direct bus services on December 15 to connect north-east residents to the city as part of a $900 million program.
- Services 679, 680, 681, 682, and 683 will connect Sengkang West, Buangkok, Upper Serangoon, Compassvale, and Punggol Central.

These new city-direct buses, which operate on express routes between housing estates and the city, are being implemented as part of the Bus connectivity upgrade programme The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a Facebook post on November 24.
The $900 million initiative aims to expand the bus network in newer housing complexes across the island during an eight-year period beginning in 2024.
Service 679 will connect Sengkang West, the Downtown area, and Suntec City via the Central Motorway (CTE).
It will operate along Sengkang West Way, Fernvale Street, Jalan Kayu, Yio Chu Kang Road, and Bayfront Avenue. Service 680 will take passengers from Buangkok to Orchard and Dhoby Ghaut via the CTE.
It will serve bus stops on Buangkok Crescent, Hougang Avenue 9, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, and Orchard Road. Upper Serangoon residents will also benefit from the newly established bus service 681.
This would transport passengers from Upper Serangoon to Orchard and Novena via the Kallang-Paya Lebar Motorway (KPE), with stops at Upper Serangoon Road, Hougang Central, Tampines Road, Orchard Road, Scotts Road and Moulmein Road.
Service 682 uses the CTE to ferry people between Compassvale and Dhoby Ghaut.
It will serve bus stops along Compassvale Drive, Anchorvale Drive, Sengkang East Way, Sengkang West Way, Moulmein Road, and Orchard Road.
Service 683 will take passengers from Punggol Central to Orchard and Novena via the KPE. It will traverse through Punggol Central, Punggol Road, Punggol East, Sengkang East Drive, Orchard Road, Scotts Road, and Newton Road.
All five new bus lines will only operate during weekday morning and evening peak hours, beginning about 7 a.m. and ending around 6 p.m. They will not be open on public holidays.
The LTA also announced that starting December 14, the existing bus service 146 will extend its route to include a loop at Kovan MRT station and Kovan Hub, which houses Kovan Market and Food Centre.
The extended bus route begins at Woodleigh Bus Interchange and will serve bus stops on Hougang Street 13, Hougang Avenue 1, and Hougang Street 21.
