Man accused of Huntingdon train attack refuses to appear in court.
Anthony Williams, 32, was due to appear and enter pleas.
A man facing accusations for a knife attack on a train last month has refused to appear in court.
Anthony Williams, 32, was scheduled to appear and enter pleas in relation to the Huntingdon attacks.
Williams, of Langford Road, Peterborough, is scheduled to appear in Cambridge Crown Court today (Monday, December 1) on 21 charges related to the train attack as well as previous incidents in Peterborough and London leading up to the attack.
Williams refused to attend the hearing via video link.
Mr Arnold, on behalf of Mr Williams, stated that an application has been made for Anthony Williams to undergo a psychiatric examination before any pleas are entered, which would take six weeks, according to CambridgeshireLive.
Judge Mark Bishop has granted the prosecution and defence two days to review the report.
The next hearing in court is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28. Williams is charged with 10 counts of attempted murder, possessing a bladed article, and causing actual bodily harm in connection with the November 1 incident in Huntingdon.
He is also suspected of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in connection with an incident at London’s Pontoon Dock DLR station, as well as the attempted murder of a 14-year-old kid and a 22-year-old man on October 31 in Peterborough.
Other accusations include attempted wounding with intent against a 28-year-old man, possession of a bladed article, and affray in Peterborough on October 31.
He has also been charged with common assault against a 31-year-old man on a train between Hitchin and Biggleswade on November 1. An motion was also filed to combine the two sets of allegations against Williams, totalling 21 charges.
The defence made no objections to this. Judge Bishop also set a provisional trial date for Williams on Monday, June 22. Williams’ custody time restriction is presently Friday, May 1, thus an application to extend it will be submitted.
