A Coventry father was slain in an act of “senseless violence,” and tributes have been offered.

Anthony Priestley, 53, was stabbed in his own house by Alexander Neilson in the early hours of November 18, last year.

According to CoventryLive, Neilson has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for the murder of Mr Priestley.

Following the sentencing, Mr Priestley’s daughter paid homage, saying, “Dad, you’re missed every day and I will love you forever.”

According to police, Neilson went to Mr Priestley’s residence on Aldrich Avenue the night of the murder, pulled out a knife, and fatally stabbed him.

Then, as he left the address, Neilson threatened the other residents.
